I have a uncontrolled diabetic refusing to care for self at school or to allow me. Grandmother is aware, states this is rebellion, and she can't do anything until the decision is made by the student to take this seriously. This is a middle school student. I was told at enrollment that the student was on long acting insulin and was under control with that. Come to find out, A1C is 15. Grandmother tells me that the Endocrinologist is aware of all this and has been willing to work with the student with dosing. Novolog 3X's daily, Tresiba @ HS. No glucometer at school. I am getting a release signed so that I can visit with the doctor. The student has an IEP for gifted. How do I make a student realize that we need to do things at school? What do I do??
